Join our outstanding team
Do you want to work at a school described as “exceptional” or “a haven for its pupils and families” by Ofsted?
This is how inspectors described our thriving, three-form entry schools Bothal Primary and Central Primary, located in the heart of Ashington in South-East Northumberland, in our most recent inspections in October 2023.
Bothal Primary was graded ‘outstanding’ in every category and Central Primary was graded ‘outstanding’ in three categories and ‘good’ overall.
Our mission at Ashington Learning Partnership is for all pupils to “Be the best you can be”.
Our values underpin our expectations of relationships, behaviour and conduct:
- Responsible – we are accountable for our words and actions
- Excellence – we try our best in everything we do
- Safe – we protect ourselves from harm
- Prepared – we are ready to learn
- Equality – we treat everybody fairly
- Courage – we face our challenges and do our best to overcome them
- Teamwork – we participate together to be successful
“Pupils thrive at this exceptional school. There is an overriding ambition for everyone to ‘be the best you can be’. This ambition shines out in all aspects of school life.”
Ofsted inspection report – Bothal Primary School 2023
“Leaders have ensured that pupils’ needs and safety are at the heart of the school’s curriculum. They want pupils to achieve their best.”

Huge demand for places
We have just added an additional nursery class at Bothal Primary due to unprecedented demand for places. Once again we were also massively oversubscribed for this September’s reception entry for Bothal and have filled all reception places at Central Primary.
The Ashington Learning Partnership is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects the same commitment from its employees. All new staff will be subject to an enhanced DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks, and employment checks, including the investigation of any gaps between jobs and two satisfactory references.
